Pressure Sensed Non-Invasively Directly On the Extra Corporeal Bloodline Tube

چکیده
To clinically measure blood pressure at extra corporeal bloodlines involves a hazard due to the infection risk and a risk for thrombosis formation. The aim was to design a non-invasive pressure sensor, measuring directly on a tube section. A modified tube cross-section was used to improve sensitivity. Using the developed sensing principle, a consistent relation (r=0.999) was obtained between pressure and output signal. The output was stable and an acceptable drift within the temperature-range. The method shows great promise for applications in monitoring of the dialysis process. 1

Numerical Study of a Pipe Extension Effect in Draft Tube on Hydraulic Turbine Performance
Draft tube of Francis type hydraulic turbine usually consists of: cone, elbow and diffuser. On the contrary, in some power stations an extra pipe should be added to the draft tube at the bottom of cone because of installation limitation. In this paper, this special case has been numerically studied. To this end CFD analysis was applied to simulate all parts of hydraulic turbine. A homogeneous m...
متن کاملErrors in flow and pressure related to the arterial filter purge line.
The purge line is a necessary component on arterial filters, although its presence may affect the amount of flow reaching the patient as well as the pump outlet pressure in the extracorporeal circuit. In-vitro and clinical studies conducted to investigate these effects with a commonly used purge line showed that at flows less than 1.5 L/min, rates for pediatric or infant patients, the purge lin...
متن کاملFlow Visualization Around a Non - Circular Tube
The flow behavior around a cam shaped tube in cross flow has been investigated experimentally using flow visualization and pressure distribution measurement. The range of attack angle and Reynolds number based on an equivalent circular diameter are within 0 ≤ α ≤ 360˚ and 2 x 104 < Reeq < 3.4 x 104, respectively. The pressure drag features are clarified in relation to the flow behavior around t...
متن کاملPatient directed perfusion pressure on bypass, an analogy from electrical engineering--a new concept.
Organ ischemia, particularly mesenteric and renal, can occur despite a seemingly adequate perfusion flow and pressure during a period of cardiopulmonary bypass. The blood pressure to run bypass at remains a contentious issue. We present the concept that perfusion pressure during cardiopulmonary bypass should be patient specific, depending on an individual's resting pre-procedural blood pressure...
متن کاملRetrospective analysis comparing hollow fiber and silicone membrane oxygenators for neonates on ECMO.
There is little information showing the use of microporous polypropylene hollow fiber oxygenators during extra-corporeal life support (ECLS). Recent surveys have shown increasing use of these hollow fibers amongst ECLS centers in the United States. We performed a retrospective analysis comparing the Terumo BabyRx hollow fiber oxygenator to the Medtronic 800 silicone membrane oxygenator on 14 ne...
